If you’ll be doing some packing yourself, start packing several cartons each day a few weeks before your move. Be sure that the items you pack won’t be needed before you move, of course. By packing yourself, you will be more organized and the job won’t be so overwhelming.

Pack on a room-by-room basis, one area at a time.
It’s best not to mix items from different rooms into same box.
To prevent small items from being lost or discarded, wrap knick-knacks and other small items in brightly colored tissue paper before placing in box.
On top and front of each carton write a general description of the contents and designated room where it came from or where it will go in new location.
Use different colored dot stickers for each box. Then make a list of each room next to its coordinated dot color and give a copy to the nj movers at the new location.
Use only unprinted newsprint paper to wrap items. Regular newspaper is messy and can spoil your possessions.
Use clean cartons designed for nj moving. Boxes obtained from grocery or liquor stores are not always clean and may not withstand the weight of your moving items. Also their odd sizes tend to make loading more difficult.

You should personally transport all irreplaceable and sentimental items such as photos, financial papers, bank checks, insurance policies, stock certificates, legal documents (wills, passports etc.), valuables (jewelry, coin/stamp collections) and medical/family records.
After you’ve thoroughly cleaned and dried the inside of your refrigerator, put a handful of fresh coffee, baking soda or charcoal in a sock or nylon stocking and place inside for a fresh scent.

• Tip #1: Designate one drawer of a dresser for sheets and towels so that you won’t have to rummage through boxes for these essentials the first night in your new home.
• Tip #2: Remove bulbs before packing your lamps.
• Tip #3: Make a note of your shipment registration number (found in the upper right-hand corner of your bill of lading) and keep it with you in case you need to call your mover with questions about your shipment.
• Tip #4: Pack your current phone book to take with you. You may need to make calls to residents or businesses from your old neighborhood.
• Tip #5: Pack heavy items in small boxes, light items in larger boxes.

Are they done yet? It is your responsibility to see that all of your goods are loaded so remain on the premises until Loading is completed. To insure that nothing gets left behind, always do a final inspection of the premises and do not sign any releases until doing so.

Where is a vacuum when you need one? Since you’ll probably want to clean before the furniture is unloaded, make sure your vacuum is packed last so it can be unloaded first.
