If you’ll be doing some packing yourself, start packing several cartons each day a few weeks before your move. Be sure that the items you pack won’t be needed before you move, of course. By packing yourself, you will be more organized and the job won’t be so overwhelming.

Pack on a room-by-room basis, one area at a time.
It’s best not to mix items from different rooms into same box.
To prevent small items from being lost or discarded, wrap knick-knacks and other small items in brightly colored tissue paper before placing in box.
On top and front of each carton write a general description of the contents and designated room where it came from or where it will go in new location.
Use different colored dot stickers for each box. Then make a list of each room next to its coordinated dot color and give a copy to the nj movers at the new location.
Use only unprinted newsprint paper to wrap items. Regular newspaper is messy and can spoil your possessions.
Use clean cartons designed for nj moving. Boxes obtained from grocery or liquor stores are not always clean and may not withstand the weight of your moving items. Also their odd sizes tend to make loading more difficult.
Unpack breakables over the box they are coming out of in case they happen to drop. By landing on packing material, it will reduce the chance of breakage.
Some common household items cannot be included in your shipment because they are considered hazardous materials. Examples of such materials Include flammables such as: paint, varnish, thinners, gasoline (in lawn equipment like trimmers or mowers), kerosene, oil, bottled gas, aerosol cans, nail polish, remover, ammunition, explosives, fireworks, corrosives, cleaning fluids and detergents.
You should personally transport all irreplaceable and sentimental items such as photos, financial papers, bank checks, insurance policies, stock certificates, legal documents (wills, passports etc.), valuables (jewelry, coin/stamp collections) and medical/family records.
After you’ve thoroughly cleaned and dried the inside of your refrigerator, put a handful of fresh coffee, baking soda or charcoal in a sock or nylon stocking and place inside for a fresh scent.

  • Tip #1: Designate one drawer of a dresser for sheets and towels so that you won’t have to rummage through boxes for these essentials the first night in your new home.
  • Tip #2: Remove bulbs before packing your lamps.
  • Tip #3: Make a note of your shipment registration number (found in the upper right-hand corner of your bill of lading) and keep it with you in case you need to call your mover with questions about your shipment.
  • Tip #4: Pack your current phone book to take with you. You may need to make calls to residents or businesses from your old neighborhood.
  • Tip #5: Pack heavy items in small boxes, light items in larger boxes.
  • Tip #6: Before the moving nj foreman leaves for your destination residence, give him your cell # or phone # where you can be reached.
  • Tip #7: Place picture frames in boxes between sheets and blankets for added protection.
  • Tip #8: Plates and dishes should be packed vertically rather than placed flat and stacked.
  • Tip #9: Tag all items you no longer want and be prepared to wheel and deal--garage sale gurus love to haggle.
  • Tip #10: In addition to the room and contents, have children write their name and address on their boxes so they can become familiar with their new address before they get to their new home.
  • Tip #11: Keep your pet calm and away from all the activity on moving day by arranging for a friend to watch your pet at their house.
  • Tip #12: At your new residence, you might want to consider having the TV and DVD hooked up first to occupy the kids while the rest of the truck is being unloaded.
  • Tip #13: When moving plants to your new residence via your car, try not to let foliage rest against hot windows as the leaves will scorch.

Are they done yet? It is your responsibility to see that all of your goods are loaded so remain on the premises until Loading is completed. To insure that nothing gets left behind, always do a final inspection of the premises and do not sign any releases until doing so.

Are they there yet? Make sure you are on hand when the movers nyc arrive. Its important to have an adult authorized to take your place if you are unable to be present at any time during the move. Let us know to whom you have given this authority.

Spend a little time… Always try to spend as much time with the mover as possible. If you have special instructions, make sure you relay them to your mover. As with anyone Communication is the key, especially with your mover.

They’re here!!! Once the foreman arrives review all details and paperwork. Accompany the driver as he inspects and tags each piece of furniture with an identifying number. These numbers, along with a detailed description of your goods and their condition at the time of loading, will appear on the inventory.

Where is a vacuum when you need one? Since you’ll probably want to clean before the furniture is unloaded, make sure your vacuum is packed last so it can be unloaded first.

Sit back, relax and enjoy the move…
Leave the rest to the professionals. Sit back, relax and look forward to the new venture that lies ahead of you. GOOD LUCK AND CONGRATULATIONS ON YOUR NEW HOME!
